About Marcia Calhoun Forecki
Marcia earned a Master's Degree in language and literature from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her first book, Speak to Me, is a first-person account of her experiences as the single parent of a deaf child. The book was published by Gallaudet University Press, and won a national award. Marcia has written non-fiction and short stories, and was nominated for a Pushchart Prize for her short story, "The Gift of the Spanish Lady," published in the Bellevue Literary Journal. Marcia's first novel for middle age readers, Better Than Magic, was published in 2009 Eloquent Books. Her collection of short stories, "Hurricane Blues and Other Stories" will be published in the summer or 2011 by Write Life, details at writelife.com. Marcia lives in Iowa, works as a paralegal and also teaches ESL.
